Biography
Teaching Philosophy
Lee Jae Phang is a Malaysian concert pianist and piano pedagogue based in Petaling Jaya, offering private piano lessons exclusively through his own independent studio. He is dedicated to guiding students toward thoughtful musicianship, strong technical foundations, and confident musical expression. His teaching is built on the belief that good habits, musical understanding, and careful listening should be cultivated from the very beginning and developed consistently over time.
In his studio, lessons emphasize healthy technique, beautiful tone production, rhythmic stability, and clear musical intention. Students learn not just what to play, but how to interpret it and why it works, focusing on phrasing, articulation, score reading, and stylistic understanding. Performance preparation and stage confidence are introduced progressively, according to each student’s level and readiness.
Student Achievements
Under his guidance, students regularly achieve excellent examination results and have received prizes in local and international competitions, including the Euroasia Malaysian Piano Competition, Hong Kong International Piano Open Competition, Gold Star International Music Competition Malaysia, Music Singapore International Competition, and the Asia Pacific International Arts Festival.
Lee Jae also serves as a competition adjudicator, most recently at the national finals of the Malaysia Yamaha Junior Piano Competition.
